Manager of Environmental, Health, & Safety (EHS)

Our state-of-the-art hybrid greenhouse in Delta, BC is now fully operational and licensed; we have just planted our new outdoor grow site and have recently received our Sales license. After launching our first Canadian brand Simply Bare Organics to rave reviews, we are excited for this next growth stage in this ‘budding’ industry.

Health & Safety is essential for the Rubicon team, and it has become even more of a priority as we grow in team size and cultivation capacity. We are seeking a Manager of Environmental, Health, & Safety, who will be responsible for oversight and implementation of all Environmental Health, Safety and related regulatory requirements to ensure compliance, identify & resolve EHS gaps, and reduce risks at our facility located in Delta, B.C.

  • Perform and oversee all responsibilities of an EHS Manager with an oversight of the Director, Engineering
  • Supervises and directs staff which would include employee hiring, training, evaluations and discipline
  • Organize the daily workflow, in the EHS department and monitor the daily operations of the department.
  • Manage, implement and monitor safety & regulatory programs and policies.
    • Including, but not limited to:
    • Complete all regulatory reporting requirements (Fire, OSHA, EPA, DNR).
    • Maintain the Chemical Inventory/Hazardous Materials Business Plan
    • Regulatory matrix
  • Maintain all necessary permits for Environmental and Regulatory Compliance
  • Troubleshoot equipment/system problems related to safety encountered and submit and follow up on work orders when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance in all aspects of a broad-based industrial hygiene program, including (but not limited to) indoor/outdoor air quality, production floor safety (occupational exposures), medical surveillance, and respiratory protection.
  • Perform/oversee the communication/awareness of safety and environmental management in the company.
  • Communicate job expectations and performance standards to employees within the department
  • Delegate tasks or responsibilities to employees; use effective methods to monitor and review progress
  • Facilitate the preparation and reporting of department metrics and performance measures
  • Oversee the training program for new and existing employees; identify training gaps and optimal methods for monitoring and measuring training effectiveness
  • Interface with Regulatory Officials {Fire Marshall, OSHA, EPA & BLDG department) as needed. Lead all inspection activities
  • Organize and Chair the Safety committee on site

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director, Engineering


  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
  • Completion of 40-Hour Spill Response Training, preferred
  • Minimum of three years of Environmental, Safety, and Health and/or relevant experience as a manager, Team Lead or prior related experience required
  • Working knowledge of Air compliance and DNR is required
  • Working knowledge of all local, state and federal regulatory requirements required
  • Working knowledge of IDT’s Safety and Regulatory Programs and Policies preferred
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 & ISO 140001 preferred; completion of ISO 140001 Internal Auditor Training is preferred
  • Must have excellent computer skills which includes knowledge of the Internet and MS Office (e.g. word, excel, power point…)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality on all issues related to the position
  • Adaptability to perform under stress when confronted with emergent, critical, unusual, or dangerous situations, or situation in which working speed and sustained attention are make-or-break aspects of the job
  • Ability to maintain both a high standard of courtesy and cooperation in dealing with co-workers
